She slowed her breath down to a silent intake of air. Her closed eyes remained so for another moment, as she listened for the noises around. The calm swoosh of the waves, as the broke down on the shore and rocks down below; the gently summer breeze arriving to cool her down; the night life starting to wake; and her own breath.

She opened her eyes to find a brilliant sun setting in the distant horizon. How beautiful it looked. The colors of red, orange and pink entwining and fleeing the coming of the dark blue sky brought a sense of belonging and peace she hadn’t felt in a long while. With bare feet, as she had taken her sandals off, she slowly walked towards the edge of the cliff. Her short dress was tied by a simple ribbon around her waist, allowing it to freely flow with both her movements and the breeze. The moon, oh so beautiful, was there to witness yet another of her dawns. The soft grass was newborn; absolutely perfect.

Upon arriving at the cliff she sat down in a swift movement. Who knew she could love such a place so much? Who could see the girl on the cliff top? Who knew she was there? No one. Or almost. It had been shown to her earlier by a gentleman who did nothing but be so kind to her. She smiled as she remembered the tour she was given. What a precious place. How could one not love it?

But this, this precise place, that point and location was her favorite. She had been told about it, she had pictured and dreamt it, she had even written about it. But being there in flesh and blood, finally witnessing with her own eyes the sensuality of the sun’s warmth slowly fading to let the bright moon keep her alive was a feeling she could not describe.

It mattered not who was around; it mattered not that she was wearing a turquoise dress when she never did; it mattered even less the point of being alone up there. All that did matter was that she was there. Lovingly, she closed her eyes and brought her legs towards her. She felt so calm, so relaxed, so…. at home.

Finally night had grasped its turn. The dark blue almost black sky was lit with thousands of tiny stars all around and the bright full moon, hanging above; watching over her. The soft earth and newborn grass beneath her spoke to the moon as she hummed a song she remembered. The waves crashing called to her, pleading and honoring her all the same. The wind whispered her name and she whispered back whilst it blew her blond hair back and ruffled her dress.

“So? Is it all I said it was?” came a voice from behind.

Being who she was, she swiftly turned about. But she relaxed and turned back towards the dark horizon. He was no threat to her.

“It is. And more.” She answered “I thank you so much for showing it to me.”

She could almost feel him smiling behind her. She also knew he would ask her reason for being here, but she needed not answer as he also knew.

“You may join me.” She stated, closing her eyes again.

Waiting patiently and gallantly, he approached. Sitting next to her she smiled.
The night was splendid. She knew she had picked the perfect night. So perfect…

“Thank you.” She whispered.
